Long Jump
Props:
- 2 Hurdles/Jumps (you can see how I made mine here)
Step 1:
To start training this trick, lure your rat over one hurdle, then reward. Repeat this several times, rewarding on both sides.

Step 2:
Now add in a second hurdle. Start by placing it next to the first hurdle, then lure your rat over both hurdles.

Step 3:
Now gradually fade out your hand by using more and more subtle motions. Continue to fade out your hand until just pointing cues your rat to jump over both hurdles.

Step 4:
Finally, slowly begin to move the jumps apart, only rewarding your rat when they clear the gap. Continue to move the jumps apart until you are happy with the distance (but make sure your rat can still safely jump over both hurdles).
