Stand/Beg:
Stand is a super easy and fun trick to train rats of any age! Its also a great confidence building trick, and can help you and your rat begin to develop the communication needed for harder tricks.
Step 1:
To begin teaching stand, simply use a treat to lure your rat onto their hind legs. Once they reach this position, hand them the treat.

Step 2:
Repeat this a few times, then remove the lure. This time, pinch your fingers together as if you have a treat, then lure your rat upwards. Once they're fully upright, go ahead and hand them a treat.

Step 3:
The last thing to do is to add in a cue. My cue is just motioning my rat "up" with a finger. To add in this cue, gradually start to open your hand while leading the rat upwards. In some cases, you can transition from pinching your finger to motioning upwards right away, but in others you will need to go at a slower pace.
